A is for Anthony: An Alphabet of Saints and Animals. (Aquinas Press)

Looking for a book for a Catholic child in your life? There are other alphabet books of saints on the market, but this one takes a very child-friendly approach to the saints, introducing both well-known saints (The Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Nicholas, St. Luke the Evangelist) and more obscure saints (St. Ursula, St. Oda, St. Zoe of Pamphylia) by talking about their relationships with animals. Some saints had pets; some tamed wild animals; some are associated in art with a symbolic animal.

This booklet (4×6) is published by Aquinas kids and illustrated by the talented Miguel Lopez. It is suitable for distribution in Religious Education programs, and would also make a great First Communion present or stocking stuffer. You can find it sold in bulk here and individually here or on Ebay.

Spooky and the Gargoyle (self-published)

Category winner in the 2020 Indie Reader Discovery Awards!

“A charming tale of camaraderie and friendship.” — Kirkus Reviews

Full of strange shadows, the old Maxwell place can be frightening to a timid little kitten like Spooky! As she explores her new home, Spooky finds an unexpected companion in the gruff gargoyle who guards the gates . . . but can she turn this curmudgeon into a new friend?

Children ages 4-8 will love watching Spooky overcome her fears as she settles into a new life. This atmospheric friendship tale makes a delightfully creepy story for Halloween, but is sweet enough to read year-round.
